Nut free, lactose free, dairy free option, gluten free, soy free, vegetarian, vegan option

I decided to follow the recent trend, and so I experimented with some green smoothie making. It was a success on the first try! It’s very easy and goes a long way!

I used the simple formula courtesy of Simple Green Smoothies – 2 cups of leafy greens + 2 cups of liquid base + 3 cups of ripe fruit.

Here’s what I came up with:

  • 2 cups of baby spinach
  • 1 cup of coconut water
  • 1 cup of Paul’s Zymil milk. I like to add this for a bit of sweetness, but it can also be replaced with coconut milk, soy milk, almond milk or coconut water

I blended these together before adding the fruit:

  • 1 banana
  • ½ mango
  • ½ orange
  • 5 pieces of frozen pineapple

I blended these all together with the liquid until smooth.

You can also add some extras, if it tickles your fancy, like chia or flax seeds, acai powder or coconut oil.

Keep in the fridge until chilled and drink up for a great energy boost! Great for before or after a workout!

I got about 3 servings out of this mixture.

Here’s some other options for what to use in your green smoothie:

Leafy greens:

  • Kale
  • Bok Choy
  • Romaine

Liquid base:

  • Coconut milk
  • Almond milk
  • Water

  • Berries
  • Peaches
  • Apple
  • Grapes

Drink up!
